The GD30DRE231x device integrates a 32-bitCortex®-M23 core MCU and a three-phase gatedriver. The device supports multiple applications,such as motors, electronic bikes, power tools, etc.The device provides up to 64 KB on-chip flashmemory and up to 8 KB SRAM memory. Anextensive range of enhanced I/O and peripheralsconnected to two APB buses. The devices offerone 12-bit ADC, a comparator, up to four general16-bit timers, a PWM advanced timer, as well asstandard communication interfaces: SPI, I2C,USART, I2S.
The GD30DRE231x integrates three individually controllable half bridge drivers, to drive a 3-phase BLDCmotor or other inductive loads. Each driver is composedof two NMOSFETs which support up to 3A source andsink current. The GD30DRE231x can operate with asingle power supply ranging from 4.5V to 30V. Aregulated Bootstrap circuit is integrated in the device tosupply the high side gate drive currents. Dead time andautomatic handshaking is applied to prevent the highside and low side NMOSFETs from shoot through whenswitching. Each half bridge has an optional terminalwhich allows external current sensing. The IC has a LDOfor both internal circuit and external output up to 20mA.A general purpose comparator is also integrated in thedevice.Multiple internal protection features are implemented toprevent the IC and system from malfunction damage.The protection includes supply undervoltage lockout,over temperature. All the protection features arereported through nFAULT pin.The versatile features of the IC allow for it to be used ina broad range of applications, such as BLDC motors,brushed DC motors, etc.
